Insurance Companies have distanced themselves from the liability surrounding electromagnetic fields as they consider EMF Pollution to be as 'high-risk' as asbestos.
While the public at large is kept ignorant of the potential health hazards associated with both short-term and long-term exposure to EMFs, the Insurance Companies have quietly excluded EMF Pollution and its potential health hazards from coverage.
According to the Insurance Companies, electromagnetic fields fall under the category of 'Pollutant'. This is the same category that asbestos, cigarette smoke. lead, molds and chemicals are placed in.
In order to obtain any coverage from damage caused by exposure to EMFs, a special "Pollution Liability" policy is needed.
According to one large Insurance Company out of London, "The Electromagnetic Fields Exclusion is a General Insurance Exclusion and is applied across the market as standard. The purpose of the exclusion is to exclude cover for illnesses caused by continuous long-term non-ionizing radiation exposure, for example as from mobile phone usage."
it is interesting to note, that although the use of cell phones and other wireless communication devices has been approved for use by Governments and stamped as 'safe', Insurance Companies cite the same EMFs as 'pollutants' with the potential to damage health and exclude their coverage accordingly.
“We will not pay anything under this policy, including claim expenses, in respect of: Electromagnetic fields any liability of whatsoever nature directly or indirectly caused by, in connection with or contributed to by or arising from electromagnetic fields (EMF)...” states an Insurance Company out of Zurich.
California State University's Self Insured Program states, "We will not pay for loss or damage caused by or resulting from any of the following: Artificially generated electrical, magnetic or electromagnetic energy..."
At the same time as insurance Companies are distancing themselves from any liabilities associated with exposure to electromagnetic fields, the retail market is being flooded with wireless technologies set up to usher in the Internet of Things/5G.
If electromagnetic fields are indeed the Pollutant the Insurance Companies claim they are, on par with asbestos and lead, then maybe it is time to begin decreasing this pollutant through returning to hard-wired connections whenever possible. limiting the use of wireless technologies in the home and looking into the use of fiber-optics to replace 5G.
